Senior Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Based at either the Longmont, Colorado or Shakopee, Minnesota campus, United States. No travel required.

Base salary: $106,163.00–$151,808.00 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and integrate embedded C/C++ software for storage platform features and components.
• Improve software reliability, performance, manufacturability, and product readiness across releases.
• Investigate embedded software, hardware interaction, firmware interface, operating environment, and storage system issues.
• Drive defects and integration issues from reproduction and root-cause analysis through corrective action and validation support.
• Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, debugging strategy, and defect-prevention practices.
• Share domain knowledge, guide less experienced engineers informally, and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field plus 5+ years of experience; or a master’s degree in the same field plus 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with 0+ years of experience; equivalent experience and education is also accepted.
• Strong foundation in operating systems, concurrency, memory management, data structures, algorithms, and computer architecture.
• Proficiency developing embedded software in C/C++.
• Experience debugging embedded, firmware, or system-level issues using structured root-cause analysis, instrumentation, logs, lab tools, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience contributing to design, implementation, integration, validation support, and release readiness in a hardware-dependent software environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded operating systems, device drivers, storage systems, real-time software, low-level platform software, firmware interfaces, or hardware bring-up.
• Experience with modular design, interface definition, test strategy, build systems, CI/CD, static analysis, or software quality tools.
• Knowledge of HDD devices, storage protocols, system-level performance analysis, reliability considerations, failure modes, or storage subsystem behavior.
• Experience sharing technical knowledge, supporting debugging, collaborating across teams, or improving local engineering practices.
