Lead Software Engineer-Embedded Computing Software (Embedded Systems)

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, United States; onsite role. U.S. citizenship and active U.S. DoD clearance are required.

Salary: $108,900–$145,200 per year plus bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze product plans and requirements, create software specifications, and support bids and proposals with engineering labor and material estimates.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware development, and technical teams to create sustainable solutions and resolve software and hardware problems.
• Design, develop, integrate, debug, and test embedded computing software and complex enhancements in compliance with industrial, military, and aerospace standards.
• Implement bootloaders including BIOS, SlimBootLoader, and U-Boot; Linux and VxWorks device drivers; customized applications; embedded test software; and simulation and production test software.
• Diagnose advanced defects, address customer-reported issues, and implement software modifications and enhancements.
• Contribute to software design and test documentation and user manuals.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and active U.S. DoD clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8–12+ years of progressive software development experience, including ownership of complex applications or subsystems; 5+ years developing software systems and 4+ years leading software projects.
• Competence in computer architecture, real-time embedded software development, and disciplined engineering processes.
• Hands-on experience with C/C++, Linux distributions including Red Hat, LynxOS, and WindRiver, VxWorks 7.x, Linux and VxWorks device drivers, Bash/Csh scripting, high-level application software, Python, LabVIEW, and IPMI.
• Hands-on experience with Visual Studio, Eclipse-based IDEs, AMD/Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Petalinux, GCC, CMake, Yocto, and MS Office.
• Hands-on experience with Intel x86 processors, ARM, and AMD Zynq MPSoCs.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, Infiniband, RDMA, PCIe Gen3/4, SPI, I2C, and RS232/RS422.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and JTAG emulators.
• Proficiency with IBM Rational DOORS, Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Full software lifecycle development experience in accordance with DO-178C and CMMI, plus an understanding of software regression testing and verification.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills, including customer communication and resolution of escalated technical issues.
• Familiarity with industry guidelines and standards for engineering processes.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
• Familiarity with GreenHills Multi SW Development Suite, COSMIC SW Development Suite, ClearQuest, VectorCAST, and LabVIEW.
• Familiarity with virtualization concepts and the LynxOS Hypervisor.
