Staff Accountant (Defense)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $88,000–$110,000 annual base compensation

What you will do

• Process high-volume daily accounting transactions, including corporate card review and coding, travel and expense processing, general ledger activity, and cash and bank activity.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close by preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, fixed asset additions, prepaid expense amortization, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with GAAP financial statements, intercompany transactions, trial balance reviews, and technical accounting research.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering on accurate financial reporting and operational alignment.
• Prepare documentation for annual external audits and support ad hoc reporting and ongoing accounting projects.
• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and implement new workflows, systems, AI automation, and other improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, at a startup, or at a high-growth technology or manufacturing company; Big Four experience is preferred within the stated experience background.

Nice to have

• CPA license or active CPA candidacy.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems such as NetSuite.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and comfort with automation and AI tools.
• Hands-on approach and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing startup environment.
