Principal Software Engineer (AI/ML) - Marketplace

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; home office at 1375 Crossman Ave.

Salary: $143,000–$286,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead platform engineering initiatives delivering scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and AI/ML frameworks aligned with strategic roadmaps.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, including high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
• Architect and integrate intelligent software systems using cloud-native principles and model-driven design.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while influencing architectural decisions and promoting engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements, measure success metrics, and align solutions with business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and products.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, scalable cloud-native architectures, and reusable tooling.
• Proven expertise designing and implementing distributed systems optimized for real-time data processing and AI/ML integration.
• Strong proficiency in software development lifecycle management, including CI/CD pipelines, testing, and observability.
• Experience applying model-driven design and leveraging AI agents to enhance software solutions.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions supporting maintainability and interoperability.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• Option 2: 7 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 4 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
