Software Development Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Flex Work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on the role.

Annual base salary: $130,400–$195,600 USD for the primary Boulder location; $123,900–$222,000 USD for additional US locations. The role may also be eligible for a bonus or commission and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Build and maintain services and tooling for AI agent deployment, testing, and lifecycle management within CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop workflow coordination, state management, tool integration, and multi-step processing systems.
• Write maintainable Python code for platform capabilities and APIs.
• Deploy and operate services on Kubernetes with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Improve observability through logging, tracing, monitoring, and debugging of distributed workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and AI teams on production-ready infrastructure and contribute to architecture decisions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience building backend systems or services.
• Strong proficiency in Python or similar languages such as Go or Java.
• Experience designing and building distributed systems and scalable services.
• Experience running and operating services in Kubernetes-based environments.
• Familiarity with machine learning or LLM-powered applications and the challenges of deploying and operating them in production.
• Experience designing systems for reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability.
• Strong understanding of APIs, asynchronous processing, and service-oriented architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, make sound technical decisions, and drive projects end-to-end, with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience with platforms, infrastructure, developer tooling, workflow orchestration, monitoring, logging, observability tools, cloud platforms, and modern deployment practices including CI/CD.
• Experience with agent-based systems, workflow orchestration, or complex multi-step pipelines from an infrastructure or SDLC perspective.
• Familiarity with LLM application patterns including tool integration, retrieval-augmented generation, context and memory management, and multi-step workflows.
• Experience with observability stacks, tracing systems, and debugging distributed workflows.
• Familiarity with model serving, vector databases, or evaluation frameworks in an MLOps context.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.
