Safety Driver Trainer/Auditor 2 (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas; requires onsite operation of autonomous Class 8 trucks, early morning, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts as needed.

Hiring range: $101,500–$121,800 USD annually, plus potential bonus and stock options.

What you will do

• Support the implementation, maintenance, integration, and delivery of IFTD training programs, including orientations, skills training, incident response, emergency preparedness, and testing training.
• Implement and oversee IFTD monitoring and auditing using Lytx in-cab event recorders, real-time monitoring, and in-person reviews of driving behavior.
• Conduct quarterly and annual IFTD requalification, annual training-program reviews, Train-the-Trainer requalification, and maintenance of qualification and training records.
• Coach IFTDs using safety feedback, incident and accident summaries, personal observations, and Smith System principles.
• Serve as a qualified IFTD for 1–2 fleet-operation shifts per week, manually drive and safely operate autonomous Class 8 trucks, manage the Dynamic Driving Task, and support closed-course testing.
• Execute federal and program processes, maintain ELDs and records, navigate inter- and intrastate regulations, report improvement opportunities, and provide vehicle-dynamics feedback to system engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, engineering, business management, transportation, safety, or a related field.
• Class A CDL with 5 years of Class 8 tractor-trailer driving experience on public roads and in varied weather conditions.
• CDL training or testing experience and the ability to meet IFTD qualification requirements.
• At least 5 years of experience providing safety training and safety initiatives.
• DOT regulations experience working with commercial trucking and knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, DOT, FMCSA, and NHTSA.
• More than 3 points on the MVR.
• Ability to multitask across communications devices and vehicle-status systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, including identifying and acting on safety-improvement opportunities.
• Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills, audio/visual equipment skills, professional communication, report-writing, presentation, analytical, problem-solving, root-cause, risk-analysis, leadership, teamwork, and technical-communication skills.
