Instructional Systems Designer (AI/LLM)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; no remote/telework allowed.

Projected compensation: $136,816.75–$237,897.78 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze training needs for Large Language Model development, deployment, and application.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts in Advanced Super Intelligence and LLM technologies to define required knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
• Design and develop instructor-led training, e-learning modules, performance-support materials, and scalable learning solutions.
• Apply adult learning principles and instructional design models; develop prototypes and conduct formative evaluations.
• Facilitate SME workshops, validate content, iterate based on feedback and pilot testing, and support train-the-trainer initiatives.
• Develop evaluation plans, monitor training effectiveness, stay current with LLM and SI developments, and support professional development.

Requirements

• Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• BS with 12–15, MS with 10–13, or PhD with 10+ years of professional experience in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of specific experience in instructional design for adult learning and technical training.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems and learning analytics.
• Familiarity with multimedia production tools and techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, including the ability to work with SMEs and stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-visibility, executive-level environment.
• Ability to assess learning competencies, develop training trajectories for emerging technology areas, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and operate independently.
• Experience with program planning, management, execution, and serving as a senior advisor to customer leadership; understanding of the customer's mission, environment, constraints, technical landscape, and strategic direction.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, Calendar, and Project.

Nice to have

• Experience designing training for technical or STEM fields.
• Experience with SI, machine learning, or data science training content.
• Knowledge of programming languages or experience in a technical environment.
• Certification in instructional design, such as CPTD or CTDP.
• Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
