Experienced Outside Auto Appraiser

Location: Remote in the United States, based in NC - Greensboro, with other listed location NC - Burlington; work includes residential, commercial, customer, body shop, and nearest hirify.global office locations.

Annual base salary: $65,400–$108,000, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage from accidents, weather events, and other covered losses through virtual and on-site inspections.
• Prepare repair estimates covering parts, labor, and materials using industry-standard estimating software; review estimates and authorize supplements.
• Determine actual cash value for total-loss vehicles through market research, comparable vehicle analysis, and valuation tools.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants while coordinating with claim representatives and vendors.
• Document pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators; resolve coverage and repair-related issues.
• Explain the appraisal process, answer customer questions, support timely claim resolution, and adapt to technology, system, digital-tool, and AI implementations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required.
• At least one year of auto physical damage appraisal or comparable claim-related experience, or successful completion of the required hirify.global Claim Representative training program.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active adjuster license where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficiency in claims management and estimating software, with advanced Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, attention to detail, organization, judgment, decision-making, and task-prioritization skills.
• Conflict resolution skills, including facilitating productive discussions and reaching equitable outcomes.
• Ability to manage stress, navigate difficult situations, remain professional under pressure, and take accountability for decisions.
• Basic understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim-handling requirements; ability to learn quickly and apply experience to new situations.
