Lead DevOps Engineer (AI)

Location: Louisville, KY, with remote options in New York, Texas, Georgia, Florida, District of Columbia, and Massachusetts.

Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead the enterprise Developer Tools and Software Catalog ecosystem with end-to-end ownership.
• Define tooling standards, governance, best practices, support models, and lifecycle processes.
• Own Developer Experience initiatives covering onboarding, Day 2 operations, self-service tooling, and developer productivity.
• Drive modernization, automation, self-service, platform migrations, and tool adoption.
• Partner with Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Architecture, Product teams, and vendors on tooling strategy and roadmaps.
• Monitor operational metrics, adoption, risk remediation, cost optimization, and emerging technologies including AI-assisted developer tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline, including 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and technical discussion skills.
• Experience supporting enterprise developer tooling ecosystems and applying modern software engineering principles, methodologies, frameworks, and standards.
• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git source control and branching strategies, SQL querying and database development, and hands-on Java or .NET development.
• Experience with artifact management platforms such as JFrog and integrations with core DevOps platforms.
• Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripting and automation.
• Experience with IntelliJ, Eclipse, Visual Studio, SQL Server, Power BI, Java frameworks, and .NET frameworks.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, Windows and Linux build agents, security remediation, and enterprise compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities, with a strong focus on automation, developer productivity, and platform reliability.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with developer portals, Software Catalog solutions, and integrations with core DevOps platforms.
• Experience with vendor roadmap management, tool lifecycle governance, end-of-life planning, and license optimization.
• Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and AI-assisted development capabilities.
• Experience establishing SLAs, KPIs, operational reporting, and executive dashboards.
