Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; work model: on-site.

Base salary: $125,000–$250,000 USD per year. A discretionary bonus may be awarded based on individual and company performance.

What you will do

• Architect and build high-performance, resilient platform features, REST APIs, and shared frameworks for mission-critical enterprise operations.
• Optimize platform performance using data structures and algorithms, reducing latency and improving throughput for customer workflows.
• Design reliable REST API integrations for complex enterprise ecosystems and high-volume production workloads.
• Execute technical spikes and investigations addressing architectural, stability, modularity, performance, and scalability challenges.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into flexible, performant technical solutions.
• Lead code reviews, establish engineering practices, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and use AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise-scale applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java and object-oriented design principles.
• Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms, including their practical application to complex performance challenges.
• Proven experience designing and implementing REST APIs for enterprise integrations.
• Strong foundation in software design patterns and architectural principles for scalable systems.
• Experience with CI/CD in cloud environments such as AWS and continuous integration systems such as Jenkins.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS cloud services and distributed cloud-native architectures.
• Experience building high-throughput, low-latency systems serving large user bases.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL database optimization techniques.
