Software Engineering Team Lead (AWS)

Location: Remote, must be based in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada; significant overlap with US business hours required.

Base compensation: $126,500 CAD, commensurate with experience; up to 10% annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a team of 3–5 engineers embedded in a client engineering organization.
• Plan and prioritize work with engineering and product leaders, and own delihirify.global against sprint and roadmap commitments.
• Lead high-level and low-level design for AWS cloud solutions, including multi-region redundancy, failover, replication, and disaster recohirify.global.
• Set standards for AWS CDK and Terraform infrastructure as code, deployment practices, CI/CD, observability, and production support.
• Review designs and code across backend, frontend, and cloud components while contributing hands-on code when needed.
• Own testing strategy, incident response, system reliability, risk management, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada, reside in Canada, and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
• BS or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience and 2+ years directly managing engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Significant hands-on experience designing, building, and operating production systems on AWS, including highly available multi-region architectures, redundancy, failover, data replication, disaster recohirify.global, scaling, performance tuning, and cloud cost optimization.
• Proficiency with AWS CDK and Terraform and strong experience with AWS services.
• Hands-on experience building production frontend applications with React and TypeScript, including reviewing frontend code and guiding frontend architecture.
• Strong backend development skills in Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript; experience with complex event-driven, microservice-based systems.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Strong understanding of production-grade reliability, observability, security, relational and non-relational data modeling, SQL, GitHub Actions CI/CD automation, and debugging distributed production systems at scale.
• Ability to work with significant overlap with US business hours.

Nice to have

• Ad tech experience, including real-time bidding, real-time ad auctions, SSPs, DSPs, ad exchanges, or header bidding/Prebid.
• Experience leading teams embedded with clients or distributed across locations through staff augmentation or consulting.
