Engineering Team Lead (Jira Cloud)

Location: Hybrid; candidate must be located in the UK. Office: Telephone House, 69-77 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Manage, support, coach, and develop a team of five software engineers, including hiring and onboarding when needed.
• Set quarterly objectives with Product Management, lead delivery planning and team ceremonies, and deliver against the roadmap.
• Guide architecture, delivery, and engineering decisions while owning product quality, security, compliance, and production cost.
• Run retrospectives, use team metrics, improve development processes, and lead the adoption of AI tools and modern workflows.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, Documentation, senior leadership, engineering leaders, Atlassian, and other partners.
• Help shape engineering culture and direction across the product organisation.

Requirements

• Strong technical background and proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience leading or managing a software engineering team, including coaching and developing engineers.
• Experience using AI coding tools as part of a team’s development process.
• Experience running agile delivery in Scrum, Kanban, or a similar environment.
• Experience building and operating services on AWS or similar cloud platforms, with delivery through CI/CD.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and REST APIs.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in the Atlassian ecosystem, especially building apps for Jira Cloud.
• Experience with serverless architecture.
• Familiarity with observability tooling for logs, metrics, and tracing.
• Experience supporting enterprise customers.
