Senior Frontend Software Engineer (Vue)

Location: Olathe, Kansas, United States; on-site at Garmin's U.S. headquarters.

What you will do

• Design, enhance, and develop single- and multi-system applications within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle.
• Provide solutions for complex software problems and maintain, improve, and extend existing applications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and Garmin IT Analysts to determine technical solutions and implement unit and system testing processes.
• Plan small- and medium-sized projects or tasks, assess feasibility, and deliver reliable solutions using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Perform technical root cause analysis, define corrective actions, document work, and participate in feature analysis and system trade-offs.
• Review complex technical tasks and mentor less experienced IT Software Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience successfully implementing technology solutions and designing, enhancing, and developing single- and multi-system applications.
• Ability to learn and understand secure coding practices.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Programming experience with Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), Java Servlets, JDBC, Java Enterprise Edition technologies, O/R mapping with Hibernate or Toplink, and Java web frameworks including Struts or JSF.
• Proficiency writing software with JavaScript or TypeScript, Node.js, React, Vue, or Angular, and HTML/CSS.
• Understanding of web standards including XHTML and CSS relevant to Garmin's business needs.
• Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 as a general rule.

Nice to have

• Cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
• Previous experience working in a team environment.
