Frontend Software Engineer (Data Analytics)

Location: Laurel, Maryland, United States; San Antonio, Texas, United States. Work may take place at a customer site, hirify.global office, or through a hybrid arrangement depending on the opening. Hybrid work includes an average of 1–2 days per week at the office; the currently identified opening requires regular presence in Columbia, MD. Ability to meet the hybrid or onsite schedule is required.

Salary: $100,163–$152,103 USD per year.

What you will do

• Create, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot browser-based web applications and user interfaces.
• Develop and review JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code using modern frontend frameworks where appropriate.
• Define, consume, and integrate REST-based APIs into frontend experiences.
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to deliver cohesive and usable interfaces.
• Investigate customer-reported issues, prioritize fixes, provide application support, and improve application quality.
• Write unit tests, perform quality-assurance testing, participate in code reviews, and deliver maintainable code.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher and U.S. citizenship.
• At least 5 years of relevant frontend software development or engineering experience with a related bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a related master’s degree; or 9 years with a high-school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of or experience with JavaScript and at least one web application framework such as Vue, React, Angular, or Backbone, or comparable demonstrated competency.
• Experience creating or maintaining frontend web applications and working with HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with Git or comparable version-control tools and comfort using a Unix/Linux command line.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handle multiple tasks or tickets, and troubleshoot issues with sound judgment.
• Ability to obtain a required DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to meet the hybrid or onsite schedule of the specific opening, including regular presence at the Columbia, MD office for the currently identified opening.

Nice to have

• Experience building frontend applications for a data lake or data warehouse.
• Familiarity with more than one frontend framework, such as Vue, React, Angular, or Backbone.
• Experience improving usability, performing frontend code reviews, and expanding automated unit or quality-assurance testing.
• Experience collaborating across design, backend engineering, and data science teams to deliver REST API-driven web applications.
