Web Engineer III (Vue/TypeScript)

Location: Remote within the United States; preference for candidates near onX offices or Basecamps in Austin, Bozeman, Denver, Kalispell, Minneapolis, Missoula, Portland, Salt Lake City, or Seattle. Candidates must have permanent US work authorization. onX cannot currently employ people whose primary work location is in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wyoming. Occasional travel for multiple days to a corporate office or strategic location is required.

Salary: $130,000–$153,000 upon hire, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and education. Full-time employees may also receive equity and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.

What you will do

• Build, support, and evolve web products for hunters using TypeScript, Vue, GraphQL with Apollo Client, and Mapbox.
• Own technical solutions from ideation through delivery, contributing to architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability decisions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and engineers across teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences and manage cross-team dependencies.
• Run and instrument A/B tests and feature rollouts with Split, Eppo, and Amplitude to measure impact and support data-informed decisions.
• Improve frontend quality through design reviews, mentorship, frontend best practices, unit and end-to-end testing, and production monitoring.
• Participate in incident triage and resolution, and integrate AI experimentation into repeatable daily workflows with validation and sound judgment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• At least four years of professional software development experience, including at least two years focused on web client development.
• Strong foundation in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and browser fundamentals.
• Experience with modern web frontend frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
• Experience working with REST APIs and/or Apollo Client with GraphQL.
• Experience writing unit tests with Jest or Vitest.
• Ownership, initiative, collaboration, willingness to provide and receive mentorship, and advocacy for customer experience.
• Curiosity about new technologies, including AI, and ability to demonstrate alignment with onX company values.
• Permanent US work authorization is required.
• Ability to travel occasionally for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript and Vue.
• Familiarity with Split or Eppo experimentation tooling and Amplitude client event instrumentation.
• Experience with Mapbox or other mapping tools.
• Experience across mobile and backend platforms.
• Familiarity with Apollo Client caching for GraphQL.
• Experience writing end-to-end tests with Playwright or Cypress.
