Program Specialist for Communications and Employer Engagement

Location: Hybrid in San Diego County, California, United States; travel within San Diego is required approximately 2–5 times per month. Candidates must live and work in San Diego County.

Base salary: $26–$31 per hour. The position is full-time through October 2027, with possible extension based on program funding.

What you will do

• Lead communications and outreach strategy for employers, employee participants, industry partners, and clean energy workforce programs.
• Secure employer partnerships and recruit participants through direct outreach, trade shows, industry events, and follow-up activities.
• Plan and execute trade show and outreach event participation, including event selection, preparation, sponsorships, registrations, marketing, contact entry, and expense coordination.
• Develop and manage email campaigns, newsletters, participant communications, marketing collateral, website content, and social media activities.
• Coordinate improvements to participant user experience, application processes, automated communications, course enrollment, website content, and course catalogs.
• Lead internal marketing meetings and support community outreach, employer engagement, data quality assurance, performance reporting, administrative tasks, and meeting scheduling.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in marketing, customer service or sales in energy efficiency or the trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical services, or refrigeration, or in energy efficiency program operations.
• Must live and work in San Diego County and be able to travel within San Diego approximately 2–5 times per month.
• Strong time, task, and relationship management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing marketing content and producing accurate, timely, high-quality marketing collateral.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to quickly learn complex topics and produce, revise, and update deliverables for technical, managerial, and lay audiences.
• Ability to give and receive productive feedback from colleagues, partners, and clients.
• Ability to follow ethical, cybersecurity, and privacy guidelines.

Nice to have

• Experience in San Diego construction trades, energy efficiency, and/or energy markets.
• Sales or customer service experience with trades companies and/or integrated demand-side management industry partners.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Salesforce, Eventbrite, and other productivity, CRM, and marketing tools.
