Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience (AI)

What you will do

• Lead large-scale framework upgrades, language migrations, dependency updates, and refactors across major monorepos with minimal disruption.
• Design and evolve agentic loops covering planning, tool use, context management, verification, failure handling, and iteration.
• Identify and resolve root causes of developer workflow friction, including slow builds, flaky tests, and confusing abstractions.
• Improve build tooling and CI performance, including Bazel or comparable build systems.
• Build guardrails, tests, and automation that make large automated changes safe to deploy.
• Partner with product engineering teams, measure impact, set technical direction, and mentor engineers on migrations, tooling, and codebase health.

Requirements

• Significant experience, typically 7+ years for Senior-level candidates, working in large and complex codebases.
• Deep experience with application or platform frameworks, including upgrading them and managing their evolution over time.
• Track record of leading migrations or large refactors from planning through rollout.
• Ability to quickly navigate unfamiliar code and make sound changes across multiple teams’ areas.
• Solid understanding of agentic loops, including tool use, context management, verification, and failure handling, with willingness to evolve them as the field changes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with teams whose code is being changed.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Bazel or similar build systems such as Buck, Pants, Nx, or Gradle.
• Experience with codemods, AST-based tooling, or automated refactoring at scale.
• Background in CI/CD, test infrastructure, or developer productivity metrics.
• Experience building or integrating LLM-based coding tools into engineering workflows.
• Open-source contributions to build tools, frameworks, or developer tooling.
