Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Salary: USD $140,400.00–$372,300.00 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, ship, and support backend services and APIs for enterprise configuration, policy enforcement, auditing, and AI governance.
• Develop domain models, API and event contracts, authorization boundaries, resource lifecycles, and state ownership across services.
• Implement asynchronous workflows with explicit state transitions, idempotent operations, recovery from partial failures, safe retries, versioning, staged rollouts, and migrations.
• Lead architecture decisions, document complex tradeoffs, and drive a technical roadmap balancing customer capabilities, reliability, security, maintainability, and cost.
• Partner with product, design, security, Copilot, upstream, and downstream engineering teams to define integration contracts and administrator-facing capabilities.
• Own production health through telemetry, alerts, incident response, on-call rotations, automated testing, AI evaluations where relevant, CI/CD, and release practices.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with proven experience maintaining and delivering production software in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python; alternatively, equivalent experience with the stated degree-and-experience combinations: Associate’s Degree and 8+ years, Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years, Master’s Degree and 5+ years, or Doctorate and 3+ years.
• 2+ years of experience in technical leadership roles such as technical lead, team lead, or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Experience building and operating shared enterprise capabilities such as policy enforcement, configuration management, or auditing.
• Experience with asynchronous workflows, event-driven integrations, or reconciliation between systems with different data models or lifecycle semantics.
• Experience building AI-assisted workflows or agent-based systems, including tool integration, evaluations, failure analysis, and quality, latency, and cost tradeoffs.
• Experience with Go, Ruby, or similar general-purpose programming languages.
• Experience partnering closely with product management and design on administrator-facing or developer-facing products.
• Prior AI or LLM experience is valuable but not required.
