Senior Corporate Counsel, Data And Content (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast.

Base compensation: $160,000–$203,000 USD per year, plus potential performance-based bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate exchange and financial data agreements, content distribution and aggregation agreements, data licensing agreements, and vendor and supplier contracts for acquiring and distributing data and content.
• Research legal issues and help develop proposals and project plans for data and content procurement and distribution.
• Advise Content, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, and other stakeholders on data and content rights, AI and machine learning use restrictions, regulatory compliance, commercial disputes, privacy, and related matters.
• Partner with the Content team on data and content acquisition and distribution, including related policies.
• Monitor global laws, regulations, and industry guidance concerning AI and data, and create or improve legal playbooks and scalable internal processes.
• Provide legal and strategic business advice and support corporate and other general legal matters as needed.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with, a state bar.
• At least 7 years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements related to the procurement and distribution of content and data, and advising stakeholders on related matters, gained in-house, at a nationally recognized law firm, or through a combination of both.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations concerning intellectual property, financial data and research, compliance, financial regulation, securities, privacy, and other federal, state, and local requirements.
• Ability to review and negotiate Master Services Agreements, Services Agreements, SOWs, Service Level Agreements, Data Licensing Agreements, Content Distribution Agreements, Order Forms, NDAs, and similar commercial contracts.
• Strong business acumen, responsive client service, a pragmatic and business-friendly mindset, and the ability to balance legal risk.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to support difficult positions firmly and patiently.
• Effective communication skills with internal and external professionals from varied backgrounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with or demonstrated interest in AI-related legal issues involving data and content licensing, including data use rights, model training, output generation and ownership, agentic access, AI architecture, data retention, and security.
