Branch Claims Representative (Life Claims)

Location: Lansing, Michigan, United States; in-person initial training followed by possible work-from-home time as defined by leadership.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle entry-level life insurance claims under close supervision.
• Handle claims throughout the lifecycle, including investigation, evaluation, and resolution, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Study insurance policies, endorsements, forms, claim procedures, and company insurance products.
• Communicate with agents, insureds, claimants, legal counsel, and third parties.
• Develop estimating and computer-based loss-adjustment skills.
• Study for, obtain, and maintain adjuster licenses when required by statute or company timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.
• Ability to accurately handle mathematical problems involving geometry, financial calculations, unit costs, and personal and business finance documents.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to drive an automobile, and a driving record consistent with company underwriting guidelines.
• Ability to continually develop product knowledge through approved educational programs.
• Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
