Health and Safety Manager

Location: On-site in La Porte, Texas, United States; regular site presence, travel as required, and occasional after-hours or weekend emergency calls.

Salary: $99,000–$141,500 USD per annum, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Direct and support health and safety activities across five Houston-area facilities.
• Implement, communicate, and enforce safety and health policies, procedures, training programs, and PPE requirements.
• Develop Job Hazard Analyses for non-routine tasks and conduct daily inspections, analyses, and corrective actions.
• Manage regulatory reporting, audits, inspections, documentation, safety data, insurance claims, and agency notifications.
• Conduct accident investigations, manage injury and workers’ compensation activities, and facilitate return-to-work programs.
• Coordinate medical surveillance, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance support, and communication with plant personnel and regulators.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of H&S management experience in a manufacturing environment as a leader.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 or related state safety and health regulations, Title 33 Maritime Security regulations, federal and state employment laws, and hazardous waste, environmental, health, safety, and DOT standards.
• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in safety and health or a science-related field.
• Ability to travel as required and to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience managing and mentoring company teams.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including training, presentations, report writing, prioritization, and follow-through.
• Ability to handle confidential information with strict confidence and sensitivity.
• Computer literacy with familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, move drums and containers within OSHA limits, wear required PPE and a negative-pressure respirator, climb ladders and structures, and work in heights, high temperatures, and outdoor conditions.
