Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) - Safety Professional (Healthcare and Research)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee, United States; onsite role supporting healthcare and research operations.

Salary: $78,000–$139,360 per year

What you will do

• Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, laboratory inspections, and physical environment assessment rounds.
• Perform occupational exposure monitoring using industrial hygiene air and noise sampling equipment, and evaluate ventilation systems.
• Investigate employee safety concerns and workplace injuries, perform root cause analyses, and prepare reports with corrective recommendations.
• Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, operating guidelines, compliance records, and regulatory permits.
• Develop and deliver safety education and training for clinical and research staff.
• Serve on and, when assigned, act as Incident Commander for the Hazardous Materials Response Team and advise on dangerous-goods shipping.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, science, engineering, or a related safety discipline.
• At least one year of experience in an Environmental Health & Safety role is strongly preferred.
• Relevant experience with applied health physics, infection prevention and control, EHS, federal and state regulations, or license conditions is preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, collaboration, prioritization, and technical information translation skills.
• Ability to apply safety and quality standards, evaluate risks, support investigations and corrective actions, and work with limited guidance.

Nice to have

• 24-hour Hazardous Materials Technician training, or willingness to obtain it within one year of hiring.
• DOT/IATA Dangerous Goods training, or willingness to obtain it within one year of hiring.
