Site Safety & Health Officer (Construction)

Location: Honolulu, Hawaii, United States; onsite throughout the project

What you will do

• Establish, implement, and maintain a proactive construction safety culture as the onsite safety representative.
• Conduct daily inspections of personnel, equipment, tools, and work areas, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Lead and document incident, mishap, and near-miss investigations, including corrective actions and follow-up.
• Conduct worker orientations, ongoing safety meetings, and safety training.
• Implement and monitor Accident Prevention Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and other applicable safety regulations.
• Coordinate safety matters with project management, quality control personnel, subcontractors, and government representatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of documented construction safety experience on commercial, industrial, or heavy construction projects, or at least 5 years as a Site Safety and Health Officer on USACE or other federal construction projects.
• Thorough knowledge of EM 385-1-1, OSHA 29 CFR 1926, and applicable construction safety regulations.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course plus 40 additional documented hours of construction safety training.
• Eight hours of formal safety-related continuing education annually for each of the previous five years.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification; strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills; and the ability to review confidential US Security Information.

Nice to have

• Current CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent professional safety certification.
• Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other Department of Defense construction contracts.
• Experience with electronic safety management systems and digital reporting platforms.
