Underwriter - Commercial Property

Location: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia; hybrid role with a mix of working from home and office work; local travel to meet brokers and business partners is required.

What you will do

• Underwrite new business, renewals, and policy servicing within agreed guidelines and delegated authority.
• Manage an Adelaide broker panel by providing timely quotes, terms, and underwriting support.
• Own a renewal portfolio and support retention, new business, and profitable growth across commercial property insurance.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and business partners through regular local-market engagement.
• Maintain accurate underwriting administration, audit records, and compliance with internal requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across the geographically distributed Commercial Underwriting team.

Requirements

• Underwriting experience in Industrial Special Risks or commercial property insurance, or relevant underwriting experience across SME or business pack products.
• Strong broker relationship and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to assess risk, make sound decisions, and work within underwriting authority.
• Strong organisation, communication, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while staying connected to a geographically distributed team.
• Ability to travel locally to meet brokers and business partners.
• Successful applicants must complete work-rights, police, and credit checks as a condition of employment.
