Shipping Services Lead (Vaccines R&D)

Location: Waltham, MA; reasonable commuting distance to the hirify.global site is expected. Onsite role.

Salary: $105,000–$151,666.66 annually.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end shipping process for Vaccines R&D North America at selected locations and coordinate outbound shipments and site logistics.
• Manage permits, shipment requirements, transportation activities, and compliant delivery of materials to R&D sites and CROs.
• Partner with Quality, Regulatory, logistics providers, 3PL/4PL vendors, shipping teams, and import/export trade compliance stakeholders.
• Lead development of digital tools for shipment visibility, tracking, problem-solving, deviation management, and real-time temperature monitoring.
• Develop AI-powered forecasting and optimization solutions and define digital transformation roadmaps with technology and operations teams.
• Manage KPIs, audits, compliance risks, sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement, and selected lab supply or CRO support activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in sciences, supply chain, logistics, business, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, pharmaceutical operations, or manufacturing.
• Experience managing budgets and projects, building relationships, networking, presenting, and communicating with stakeholders.
• Leadership experience in global settings, supporting laboratory operations and working independently under minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of government agencies and regulations, including US and Canada Customs, FDA, CDC, IATA, and DOT.
• Experience with import/export, global trade compliance, US Import Declaration processes, CDC, USDA, and USFWS requirements.
• Knowledge of UN codes, IATA and ADR transport regulations, and transport costs for pharmaceutical and chemical samples, including dry and temperature-controlled materials.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio; experience with 3PL/4PL providers, controlled documents, SOPs, validation protocols, trainings, SLAs, and deviation management systems.
• Working knowledge of hirify.global digital systems, including iLearn, EDMS, and applications for permits, shipments, reagent purchasing, and inventory management.
• Fluency in English; strong organizational, interpersonal, project management, strategic planning, change management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment with minimal supervision; minimum lifting and extended periods of sitting or standing at a computer.

• Advanced degree such as an MS.
• Knowledge and experience developing inventory management plans and managing laboratory inventories.
• Knowledge of R&D processes and Vaccines R&D operations.
• Experience managing inbound and outbound supply chain projects with cross-functional counterparts.
• Experience with digital transformation and technology development in logistics or supply chain environments.
• Training and coaching experience, discretion, objective analysis, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
