Director, Global Logistics

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States. Traditional office environment with up to 50% international travel; extensive travel, including overnight stays and work outside normal business hours, may be required.

Annual base salary: $151,400–$236,600. Discretionary or non-discretionary bonuses may also apply.

What you will do

• Lead global fulfillment planning, end-to-end shipping operations, delivery logistics, and supply network design across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
• Ensure timely transportation, importation, and customs clearance of products and biological specimens across international jurisdictions.
• Develop and manage integrated and specialist delivery networks, including partner performance, contracting, and price negotiations.
• Coordinate strategic supply chain planning, budgeting, network scenario modeling, metrics, and process improvements with Sales, Finance, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory leadership.
• Establish just-in-time delivery systems, capacity planning, and disruption response capabilities across the transport lifecycle.
• Hire, develop, mentor, and manage the global logistics team, including performance reviews, goal setting, development plans, and compensation processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, or a logistics-related field.
• At least 10 years of leadership experience in European, Asian, or global freight logistics, freight forwarding, procurement team management, and/or freight profit and loss ownership.
• Extensive experience in supply chain execution and oversight, planning, ERP systems, process modeling, supply network strategy, and optimization.
• Extensive understanding of global shipping logistics and services for biological materials, including negotiations with external couriers and global importation and customs regulations.
• Knowledge of European intracommunity cross-border transactions and Asian importation requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of contracts, negotiation, vendor management, and transportation and materials pricing.
• Proven management and leadership skills, including building and sustaining global teams and developing employees.
• Knowledge of regional and country regulatory guidance for pharmaceutical and biological goods and services, as well as biopharma supply chains, manufacturing technologies, supplier networks, CMO networks, performance, and capacity.
• Strong written, oral, analytical, conflict-resolution, customer-service, and attention-to-detail skills; familiarity with carrier integration platforms and mastery of analytical tools such as Excel.
• Ability to work tactically when necessary, maintain composure under pressure, and travel extensively, including overnight stays and work outside normal business hours.
