Expert People Business Partner (Human Resources)

Location: Hybrid, working from a remote office and in person at the Oakland General Office; locations include Oakland and Salinas, California, United States. Some overnight travel within the PG&E service territory is required.

Salary: $122,000–$194,000 annually, with Bay Area midpoint of $158,000; eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Align People strategies and practices with business objectives, financial metrics, midrange plans, culture, and competition.
• Partner with leaders and the People function to provide consultative solutions for complex organizational challenges and manage risks.
• Build relationships across departments, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
• Analyze People metrics, apply foundational data analytics, and communicate insights through data storytelling.
• Strengthen talent pipelines through talent management, organizational design, development, and engagement initiatives.
• Leverage People technologies and promote innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related work experience.
• 8 years of related HR work experience.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with senior executives and communicating with and influencing leaders at the executive level.
• Industry and organizational knowledge, business acumen, and understanding of financial metrics.
• Consultative problem-solving, strong interpersonal and influencing skills, analytical ability, and capacity to manage competing priorities with urgency.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, drive results, work independently with limited direction, and interpret People metrics.
• Knowledge of talent management, organizational design, development, change management, and People technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a large organization, preferably with more than 10,000 employees.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, especially California labor laws.
• Familiarity with HR best practices and industry standards.
• Ability to build partnerships, collaborate toward shared objectives, and apply business and marketplace knowledge to organizational goals.
• Ability to communicate vision and strategy, influence behavior change, provide direction, delegate, and remove obstacles.
