What you will do

  • Own data work end to end, from validating data availability through ingestion and modelling to delivery to internal teams.
  • Build and operate high-volume ETL pipelines with performance, reliability, and cost efficiency in mind.
  • Adapt pipelines as data sources, schemas, and datasets change.
  • Run the data platform, including the Kubernetes cluster and deployment tooling, and help decide what to host, pay for, or retire.
  • Set team-wide patterns, tooling, code review standards, Claude skills, and MCP servers.
  • Act as the go-to source for data provenance, content, availability, and limitations.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Python and SQL, including large-scale ETL, query quality, performance, and cost optimisation.
  • Production experience with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and Helm, including changing charts and deploying them.
  • Fluent, AI-native use of tools such as Claude Code, plugins, and skills, with ongoing experimentation with new AI tooling.
  • Creative problem-solving skills for situations where data is expensive or unavailable.
  • Clear written communication skills, including design documents, RFCs, and explaining technical decisions.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK and ability to perform the specified work.

Nice to have

  • BigQuery experience.
  • Experience with Go, Terraform, API design, large SQL databases, or BI.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid working with up to 4 days per week from home and flexible working hours.
  • £1,000 holiday contribution after the first year, £500 annual learning and development budget, and a holiday buying scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay; paid menopause leave; and mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Two paid volunteering days, public transport season ticket loans, cycle-to-work scheme, and electric car salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Birthday leave, regular wellbeing initiatives, company and team off-sites, events, and a relaxed dog-friendly office.
  • Opportunity to work on technology supporting the property industry at a climate-positive company.

Hiring process

  • Four stages: introductory call with the Talent team, take-home technical task, technical interview, and final interview.
  • Interview adjustments can be requested where needed.
