Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Fully remote, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Build and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Develop dbt models in BigQuery from raw data through downstream product and analytical models.
• Gather stakeholder requirements, define business terms, and ensure data availability for internal applications and services.
• Implement automated tests and data-quality checks, monitor pipelines, investigate failures, and improve reliability.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure, access management, CI/CD, and secure handling of customer data in an FCA-regulated environment.
• Deliver independently, partner with the Lead Data Engineer on complex work, review code, and share engineering practices.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, BigQuery, and dbt.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, modern data architecture patterns, production data pipelines, and well-structured data models.
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and analytics agents.
• Experience with containerised workloads using Docker and job orchestration.
• Strong engineering principles and ability to write maintainable, tested code.
• Strong background in Agile methodologies and Git for version control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Fintech or regulated financial services background.
• Experience with AI/LLM infrastructure, including AI model evaluations.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, streaming, or near-real-time ML pipelines.
• Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform and managed ELT platforms.
