Senior Support Developer (Azure Data Factory)

Location: Hybrid role based in Leicester, United Kingdom.

Salary: £51,400–£55,400 per year.

What you will do

• Maintain communication with business stakeholders throughout the support lifecycle, provide clear technical status updates, and confirm issue resolution.
• Optimize existing data solutions, automate workflows, streamline batch processing, and modernize the hybrid data environment.
• Monitor and maintain high-availability data pipelines, troubleshoot root causes, and restore critical services.
• Own complex incidents and tasks, coordinate cross-functionally through ServiceNow, and deploy permanent fixes.
• Support maintenance, patch management, platform upgrades, data security, cyber resilience, and cost-efficiency practices.
• Mentor junior developers, support pair programming, and explore AI/ML and intelligent automation for data challenges.

Requirements

• Proven senior-level experience diagnosing complex data failures, managing process dependencies, and restoring critical services.
• Experience supporting legacy SQL Server environments and working with modern cloud architectures.
• Hands-on experience with job scheduling, dependency management, and batch script execution using ActiveBatch or equivalent enterprise scheduling tools.
• Practical experience using AI tools and smart automation to accelerate troubleshooting and reduce repetitive manual work.
• Experience building and supporting data pipelines with Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and API integrations.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, including MS SQL Server, advanced querying, performance tuning, and data validation.
• Knowledge of ITIL principles covering Incident, Problem, and Change Management, using ServiceNow.
• Clear communication of complex technical concepts, proactive collaboration, adaptability, accountability, and willingness to mentor others.

Nice to have

• Experience with PySpark, Delta Lake, or dimensional modelling and data warehousing principles.
• Familiarity with SQL Server SSAS Tabular, DAX, or Azure Event Hubs.
• Interest or practical exposure to Generative AI, AI agents, or ML-driven automation for enterprise data pipelines.
• Proficiency in Power BI and familiarity with SSRS or equivalent enterprise reporting environments.
• Familiarity with advanced ActiveBatch workflow design, automation, dependency management, and job monitoring features.
