Head of People Operations (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid schedule with office attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Base salary: $270,000–$310,000 per year for roles based in San Francisco, plus cash compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the People Operations team, coach and develop team members, establish ownership, and set the operational roadmap.
• Prototype, test, and scale AI-enabled workflows with trusted information, appropriate access, validation, and human review.
• Design and improve employee lifecycle workflows covering onboarding, employee changes, leaves, and offboarding.
• Lead Total Rewards operations, including compensation and benefits processes, cycle readiness, data changes, payroll handoffs, controls, and exception handling.
• Use service, quality, and adoption data to improve delivery while maintaining data integrity, controls, and audit readiness.
• Partner with People, Finance, Payroll, Legal, IT, and BizTech to resolve handoffs, align decisions, and drive adoption.

Requirements

• Experience leading a high-performing People Operations team in a shared-services capacity while remaining hands-on.
• Demonstrated success building scalable People programs, infrastructure, and operational processes from the ground up in a growing organization.
• Operational depth in compensation administration and benefits, with sound judgment around accuracy, approvals, and exceptions.
• Strong systems and process-design skills across HRIS, case management, and employee lifecycle workflows.
• Practical experience using AI and automation to improve work, with privacy, quality, and human oversight built into the approach.
• Clear communication, strong judgment, and the ability to lead a team and cross-functional partners through change.
