Software Engineer III

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; home office position.

Annual salary: $90,000–$180,000, plus performance-based bonuses and, for certain positions, stock.

What you will do

• Collaborate with product, project management, business, and user experience teams to design solutions for small to medium projects.
• Translate requirements into technical solutions, write code, perform unit testing, and deliver projects on time.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues through debugging, root cause analysis, and coordinated resolution plans.
• Provide technical guidance to users and identify sustainable solutions.
• Mentor and guide small engineering teams, including offshore associates, through documentation and timeline coordination.
• Develop and maintain test cases, resolve defects, monitor application performance, and support CI/CD processes.

Requirements

• Proven software engineering experience with strong technical acumen, object-oriented programming, and API design proficiency.
• Ability to deliver scalable, maintainable, and highly available software using iterative and incremental development methodologies.
• Expertise in debugging, problem solving, and root cause analysis for complex production issues.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and automation scripting.
• Strong collaboration skills across product, project management, business, and user experience teams.
• Knowledge of software testing strategies, defect management, and quality assurance practices.
• Ability to analyze requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure timely project delivery.
• Either a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience; or 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area.
• Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies, digital accessibility best practices, and Walmart accessibility standards and guidelines.
