Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working with time split between the office and home.

Salary: EUR 84,000–99,000 gross per year, including 8% holiday allowance, based on 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Own the day-to-day operations of the AWS stack, including S3 and PostgreSQL databases.
• Identify architecture and scaling bottlenecks affecting users and developer experience, then plan and execute improvements with Engineering and other stakeholders.
• Review, improve, and maintain observability, monitoring, and alerting.
• Manage incidents and maintain infrastructure and troubleshooting documentation.
• Strengthen platform security and privacy in collaboration with the external security lead, including company-wide SSO and VPN initiatives.
• Support the Data team with infrastructure for the analytics stack.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Platform Engineer.
• Experience automating infrastructure and processes on AWS.
• Fluency in shell scripting, Python, and Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and scaling a similar Python and PostgreSQL/RDS stack under growing load.
• Comfort making changes to backend code when required for automation.
• Pragmatic decision-making, including knowing when to use a short-term solution and when to build for long-term durability.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and the ability to help reach decisions on complex trade-offs.
• Autonomy, collaboration, and the ability to establish personal working processes while working across the organization.
• Knowledge of platform security best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nix, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, ECS, RabbitMQ, or TypeScript on the frontend.
