Senior DevOps Engineer Authentication, Operations Focus

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands; hybrid workplace with a balance between home and office work.

Salary: €4,105–€5,862 gross per month for a 36-hour work week.

What you will do

• Operate, monitor, support, and continuously improve business-critical authentication services across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments.
• Take end-to-end operational ownership of authentication services, including services with delegated execution.
• Investigate incidents and recurring problems, identify root causes, and implement structural improvements.
• Manage vulnerabilities, compliance, lifecycles, certificates, and secrets to keep services secure, reliable, and controlled.
• Improve automation, monitoring, alerting, recovery procedures, and operational documentation.
• Contribute to engineering changes, migrations, infrastructure as code, and the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on operations experience in a complex, business-critical IT environment, including ownership of critical services and operational issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand unfamiliar interconnected systems, troubleshoot across system boundaries, and drive structural improvements.
• Experience with Windows and Linux in hybrid environments, plus a good understanding of infrastructure, networking, and security principles.
• Experience with identity and authentication technologies and concepts such as Active Directory, Entra ID, LDAP, FIDO2, or single sign-on.
• Some hands-on experience with PowerShell and the ability to understand, use, and troubleshoot automation scripts.
• Strong ownership and proactivity, including following operational problems through to structural solutions.
• A practical DevOps mindset combining operational responsibility, automation, engineering changes, and continuous improvement.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with YubiKeys, FIDO2, or passwordless authentication.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Directory Server, Microsoft Identity Manager, Idira Workforce Password Manager, or Entra ID Application Proxy.
• Experience with Terraform, infrastructure as code, Azure DevOps, or Azure Pipelines.
• Experience with certificate and secrets-management automation, disaster recovery, continuity testing, monitoring, or observability.
• Dutch language skills or willingness to learn Dutch.
