Assistant Director, Software Engineering - Public Investments (Public Investments Lead)

Salary: $176,000–$264,000 per year. Geographic-specific ranges are also listed as $193,600–$290,400 and $202,400–$303,600 USD.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale Investment Management System implementations from design through delivery.
• Define technical direction and translate product and business outcomes into technical designs and implementation plans.
• Lead solution design across React front ends, Node backend services, REST APIs, dbt, Snowflake, data pipelines, and warehouse models.
• Establish standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, reliability, security, and operational readiness.
• Manage architecture, integration, performance, security, incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive engineering improvements.
• Coach, develop, and manage engineers while partnering with Product Managers, Engineering Management, Enterprise Architecture, and other technical leads.

Requirements

• Strong experience in public investments or asset management and prior experience with one or more Public Investment Management Systems, such as Aladdin Enterprise, Calypso, Bloomberg, or Charles River.
• 8+ years of software and data engineering experience with strong full-stack and data platform expertise.
• Hands-on technical leadership experience, formal or informal, including guiding engineers through code and leading multiple teams or complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong experience building modern web applications with React, backend services, and REST APIs.
• Strong experience with data warehousing best practices, database performance tuning, cost-aware design, and data governance controls.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and observable enterprise systems.
• Ability to mentor engineers, improve engineering maturity, and develop direct reports through coaching, pairing, performance management, and career development.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, plus systems thinking, sound judgment under ambiguity, and the ability to balance delivery with long-term architectural sustainability.
• Ownership mindset and high standards for reliability, security, engineering quality, accountability, and talent development.

• Hands-on experience with large-scale IMS implementations.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and data pipelines.
• Experience with platform migration programs and phased cutover strategies.
