Lead Network Engineer (Cisco, Cloud & Network Automation)

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States. Hybrid role based in the Maryland office with in-office presence two days per week and up to three days per week from home. Remote work beyond this arrangement and alternative office locations are not available.

Base salary for Maryland: $122,000–$209,000 annually. Employees may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and hybrid-cloud network architectures.
• Develop network standards, reference architectures, modernization roadmaps, and recommendations for network hardware, software, and service providers.
• Design and manage networking across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VNet, and ExpressRoute connectivity.
• Establish SRE practices, define and improve network SLOs, and optimize availability, latency, capacity, resilience, and operational efficiency.
• Lead network automation and IaC initiatives, standardizing deployment, monitoring, and operational processes with operations teams.
• Provide third-tier escalation, lead critical incident response and root cause analysis, manage network security controls, and mentor engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong ability to collaborate across infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams and to communicate technical issues effectively.
• FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Nice to have

• Deep expertise in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, BFD, EVPN/VXLAN, IPSec, MAC-SEC, Zscaler, and zero-trust technologies.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting hybrid-cloud networking across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Strong experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Experience leading complex troubleshooting efforts and resolving high-severity production incidents.
• CCNP, CCIE, or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty certification.
• Experience with SD-WAN, network observability, modern monitoring platforms, load balancing technologies, and enterprise firewall platforms.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture decisions across organizations.
