Senior Staff Software Engineer (Network)

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $150,500–$214,500 base pay annually, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, automation, and operation of network infrastructure across data centers and public cloud environments.
• Set technical direction for network architecture, implementation patterns, operational readiness, maintainability, security, and scalability.
• Develop infrastructure as code and network automation with Terraform, Ansible, and Python, including provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, and operational workflows.
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines for testing, validating, securing, and deploying network configurations and infrastructure code.
• Investigate and resolve high-impact network issues using packet captures, protocol analyzers, logs, monitoring platforms, and diagnostic tools.
• Partner with Architecture, Security, Cloud Infrastructure, Product Engineering, and Operations; review designs and code, mentor engineers, document standards, and participate in on-call support.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional network engineering experience, including extensive hands-on experience with complex production networks.
• 7+ years developing or operating network automation or infrastructure as code with tools and languages such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Experience leading network solution design and delivery across multiple teams or complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of routing concepts and protocols, including BGP, OSPF, route redistribution, HSRP, and VRRP.
• Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting LAN and WAN environments, including VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, link aggregation, and network segmentation.
• Experience building or leading CI/CD workflows for infrastructure code or network configurations and experience with public cloud networking in at least one of Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience supporting highly available production infrastructure, formal change management, and distributed, multi-data-center, or SaaS environments.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, F5, Palo Alto Networks, or equivalent network technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical decision-making skills, including explaining tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical partners.
• Willingness to participate in on-call support and planned after-hours work.

Nice to have

• Google Cloud networking experience involving routing, load balancing, NAT, firewalls, or hybrid connectivity.
• Experience with VPN and tunneling technologies, including IPsec, SSL VPN, or GRE.
• Familiarity with SSL certificate lifecycle management, network monitoring, protocol analysis, or WAN and ISP connectivity.
• Experience establishing network automation standards, reusable tools, or CI/CD practices adopted by multiple teams.
• CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or public cloud networking certification.
• Experience with infrastructure security, compliance, or Agile practices.
