Lead Network Engineer (Zero Trust)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; other location: Austin, Texas, United States. The role includes rotating on-call support with one week primary and one week backup coverage.

Salary: $118,300–$168,300 per year at the start of employment in Ontario; base pay may vary based on market location and candidate-specific factors.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and scale global Zero Trust Network Access solutions and identity-based microsegmentation across data centers and corporate offices.
• Own the SASE roadmap and serve as the subject matter expert for Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, PAN-OS, App-ID, User-ID, and WildFire.
• Maintain the Network Source of Truth using NetBox or Nautobot and automate network and security configuration with Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Build automated workflows and CI/CD pipelines while promoting network programmability and reducing configuration drift.
• Design secure AWS and GCP network topologies and operate Arista, Meraki, F5 BIG-IP, SD-WAN, Checkmk, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Lead technical design decisions, review engineering work, collaborate cross-functionally, partner with ISPs and vendors, and support critical infrastructure through a rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• 7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience, including meaningful experience in network security.
• Deep, hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama, including PAN-OS, App-ID, and User-ID.
• Production experience designing or operating Zero Trust, ZTNA, SASE, or microsegmentation solutions.
• Strong routing and switching fundamentals, including BGP in a multi-circuit environment.
• Working knowledge of public cloud networking in AWS or GCP, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, and cloud load balancers.
• Ability to automate network work with Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Experience serving as a technical lead and driving design decisions and technical work across teams.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience with Arista EOS, Meraki switching/wireless/MX, or SD-WAN platforms such as Silverpeak or Aruba EdgeConnect; experience with F5 BIG-IP LTM/DNS/APM, Checkmk, NetBox or Nautobot, and CI/CD for network configuration.
• Certifications such as PCNSE, CCNP, or Meraki CMNA/CMNO, or equivalent hands-on experience.
