TL;DR
Production Engineer - Manufacturing Process and ECO Implementation (Robotics): Implementing engineering changes for autonomous palletizing and case-pick robots, including cut-in planning, BOM updates, work instructions, technician training, and verification on the factory floor with an accent on manufacturing readiness and cross-functional execution. Focus on improving first-pass yield, cycle time, scrap, and rework while building ECO and PLM systems across Onshape, ION, and the manufacturing operation.

Location: On-site in Watertown, Massachusetts, United States; up to 25% travel.

Company

hirify.global builds and deploys autonomous palletizing and case-pick robots for customers across the United States, scaling production from dozens of robots to more than 1,000 by 2028 in its own manufacturing facility.

What you will do

  • Implement approved engineering changes end to end, including effectivity and cut-in planning, MBOM updates in ION, redlines, and verification on first builds.
  • Represent Manufacturing at the Change Review Board and assess changes for build impact, cost, inventory, scrap, and schedule.
  • Plan cut-ins with Supply Chain and Materials, including purchasing decisions and inventory disposition through use as-is, rework, return, or scrap.
  • Create visual work instructions, error-proof manufacturing processes, train technicians, and verify correct execution on the line.
  • Plan field rework and retrofit activities with Field Service for robots deployed at customer sites.
  • Improve first-pass yield, cycle time, scrap, and rework using data; provide DFM feedback and help develop ECO and PLM tools connecting Onshape, ION, and the factory floor.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience as a manufacturing, production, or process engineer building electromechanical hardware in robotics, automation, automotive, aerospace, medical devices, or a similar field.
  • Hands-on experience implementing engineering changes on a production line, including ECOs/ECNs, effectivity, BOM changes, cut-ins, and material disposition.
  • Experience writing work instructions used by technicians and training technicians on the production floor.
  • Comfort with CAD such as Onshape or SolidWorks, and with reading drawings, GD&T, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with an MES, ERP, or PLM system such as ION, Arena, SAP, Oracle, or a similar system.
  • Ability to work effectively while manufacturing systems are still being built and contribute to building those systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling a new product from prototype to production rate.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools, including PFMEA, control plans, poka-yoke, and SPC.
  • Cable harness or electromechanical assembly experience.
  • SQL, Python, or scripting experience for building tools and automating data work.
  • Startup or fast-scaling hardware company experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fully employer-covered health insurance and a managed 401(k).
  • Unlimited PTO and holidays.
  • Regular in-office meals and social events.
  • Collaborative, low-ego culture with trust, ownership, and focus on solving real problems.
  • Daily use of AI tools to automate procedures, analyze data, and accelerate manufacturing work.
