Complex Claims Director - Miscellaneous Professional Liability

Location: New York, NY; other available locations include Lenexa, KS; Atlanta, GA; Scottsdale, AZ; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; and Jersey City, NJ. Primarily office-based.

Base salary: $99,000–$143,000 for New Jersey; $120,000–$147,000 for Chicago; $105,000–$147,000 for New York; $122,000–$146,000 for Boston. Eligible for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Handle high-exposure, complex third-party Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Privacy, and Media Tech claims, including class actions and other high-exposure matters, from inception through conclusion.
• Make coverage determinations, investigate losses, and evaluate and project potential exposures.
• Prepare case presentations, set judgmental reserves, and develop and implement resolution strategies.
• Strategize and budget litigation in consultation with defense and coverage counsel, vendors, and insureds.
• Establish clear ground rules with counsel to maintain financial control of litigation budgets and expenses.
• Collaborate with underwriting and deliver service to customers and distribution partners.

Requirements

• Strong track record handling complex insurance claims, litigation, or related work; professional liability claims experience within Financial Lines is preferred.
• Ability to analyze insurance policies and legal documents.
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of litigation and arbitration processes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Professional liability claims experience within Financial Lines.
• Juris Doctor degree.
