Technical Specialist General Liability

Location: Hybrid; NJ - Morristown, with other listed locations in NY - New York City and NY - Melville, United States

Annual base salary: $85,600–$141,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Independently manage moderate- to high-complexity bodily injury and property damage liability claims and related litigation from first notice of loss through resolution.
• Investigate claims, determine coverage, evaluate liability and damages, establish reserves, and issue accurate payments within assigned authority.
• Communicate with customers, claimants, attorneys, contractors, representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate disputed claims and settlements, coordinate internal and external resources, and support litigation strategies with counsel.
• Maintain accurate claim records, identify improvements to claims practices, and adapt to technology, system upgrades, digital tools, and AI implementations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Claim Representatives and Associate Claim Representatives; maintain required insurance licenses within three months of starting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least two years of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, or comparable claims-related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Three years of liability, bodily injury, or comparable claims experience and two years of litigation claims experience.
• Active adjuster license where required by state law, with relevant insurance licenses acquired and maintained according to state and hirify.global’ requirements.
• Experience with claims management systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical judgment, decision-making, customer service, conflict resolution, negotiation, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage high-volume workloads, difficult conversations, complex or disputed claims, litigation, stress, and changing situations while maintaining professionalism and accountability.
• Thorough understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations, fair claims practices, legal requirements, policy language, endorsements, and exclusions.
