Senior / Staff Technical Program Manager (Platform Software)

Location: San Francisco, CA; Toronto, ON; Pittsburgh, PA; or Remote US & Canada. Workplace: Hybrid.

What you will do

• Define and maintain integrated platform software program plans covering milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and on-time delivery.
• Coordinate physical infrastructure, onboard software, embedded systems, hardware, and operations work with Hardware Platform Managers to bring up different platforms.
• Capture stakeholder inputs before design commitments, build dependency maps, assign owners and ETAs, and distinguish blockers from process gaps.
• Track platform software releases, bring-up, and test campaigns, including test coverage, sign-off readiness, and milestone alignment.
• Own executive reporting, surface risks early, and provide data-backed Path to Green options.
• Establish shared roadmaps, single-source-of-truth tooling, and scalable tracking mechanisms for fleet-scale programs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical program management experience focused on cross-functional software integration programs for hardware platforms.
• Experience working across teams with meaningfully different development cadences, such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, IoT, or defense systems.
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycles and familiarity with embedded systems, embedded software, and their constraints.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles or robotics.
• Ability to build cross-functional program structure from scratch, including dependency maps, risk registries, executive reporting, and milestone tracking.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including executive one-pagers and working-level dependency reviews with engineers.
• Ability to engage with physical infrastructure, onboard software, hardware, vehicle reliability, systems engineering, and embedded systems teams without being a domain expert in each area.
• Ability to build processes from scratch, work through ambiguity, define success criteria and DRIs, and create trackable milestones.
• Hands-on experience with Jira, Asana, and Microsoft Project.

Nice to have

• Experience with onboard compute bring-up, physical infrastructure, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Familiarity with hardware development, systems and safety processes, and their effect on software delivery timelines.
• Working understanding of automotive development processes such as ASPICE and how to adapt them to a nimble environment.
• Experience establishing or scaling a triage process for field issues across engineering teams.
• Background in systems engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
