Senior/Staff Software-Hardware Integration Technical Program Manager (Autonomy)

Location: Foster City, California, United States; hybrid

Base salary: $212,000–$267,000 per year. Additional compensation may include Amazon RSUs, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, and a sign-on bonus.

Zoox is developing a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities.

What you will do

• Build an integrated hardware-software roadmap, timeline, and deliverables with engineering leaders and TPMs across Perception, Prediction & Behavioral ML, TeleGuidance, Planning & Controls, Collision Avoidance, Sensors, Compute, and Vehicle Platform.
• Drive hardware-software integration programs end to end, including sensor bring-up and compute platform transitions involving GPUs, memory, and SoCs.
• Assess the impact of hardware changes on autonomy software performance, latency, and resource budgets.
• Coordinate software release trains, vehicle integration milestones, dependencies, and handoffs between teams.
• Drive cross-functional autonomy teams to build and ship solutions that improve driving behavior.
• Identify integration and program risks, create mitigation plans, and present program status, issues, risks, and accomplishments to executives.

Requirements

• BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of engineering program management experience.
• Experience driving hardware-software integration programs, ideally in autonomous vehicles, automotive, robotics, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
• Working knowledge of autonomous-vehicle sensors, including cameras, lidars, and radars, and compute platforms including GPUs, memory, embedded, and accelerated platforms.
• Experience with AI/ML, autonomous vehicles, computer vision, large language models, reinforcement learning, simulation, or automotive/aerospace processes.
• Deep familiarity with software development processes and an understanding of hardware development cycles and build phases.
• Experience with program tools and methods such as Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, and JIRA.
• A strong track record of managing complex cross-functional projects and solving problems.
• Ability to keep the big picture in view and communicate clearly and concisely for each audience, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including visualizing KPIs and program risks.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with sensor and compute systems and their integration with autonomy software.
• Experience developing and scaling strategy, processes, plans, procedures, and reporting, and handling escalations.
• Strong references demonstrating effective working relationships with senior leaders, program managers, and engineers across functions.
