Senior Counsel, Product & Privacy (AI)

Location: Campbell, CA; San Francisco Bay Area. USA residents only.

Total compensation hiring wage range: $190,000–$230,000 annually, plus potential equity participation.

hirify.global develops NeuralMesh™, an intelligent adaptive mesh storage system for AI and accelerated compute workflows.

What you will do

• Build and operate a risk-tiered legal review process for NeuralMesh and hirify.globalpod features and releases, including intake forms, launch checklists, product terms, EULAs, support policies, and end-of-life reviews.
• Act as the primary legal partner to Product, Engineering, Security, and Support from early design through post-launch review.
• Build and own hirify.global’s privacy and data protection program, including privacy notices, policies, DPAs, subprocessors, data mapping, records of processing, data subject requests, retention, and cross-border transfer mechanisms.
• Advise on GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, U.S. state and international privacy laws, emerging AI regulations, and AI governance.
• Own the DPA playbook, support customer privacy and security diligence, partner with Security on incidents and SOC 2/ISO audits, and develop customer-facing privacy materials.
• Create policies, templates, playbooks, workflows, training, and self-service resources, manage outside counsel and vendors, and provide backup commercial contracting support.

Requirements

• 6–9 years of legal experience at a law firm, in-house, or both, with meaningful experience counseling Product and Engineering teams at a technology company.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering on launches, ideally building or running a product legal review process and translating legal requirements into practical terms for engineers.
• Working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, plus experience building or upgrading a privacy program rather than only operating a mature one.
• Experience negotiating DPAs and responding to customer security and privacy diligence.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• Experience managing external counsel and vendors across specialized matters.

Nice to have

• CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or a similar privacy or AI governance certification, or a desire to obtain one.
• Technical fluency in distributed systems, storage, data flows, and software releases; a computer science or engineering background or ability to read architecture diagrams.
• Experience in enterprise software, infrastructure, data storage, cloud, HPC, or AI.
• Experience supporting SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits and security incident response.
• Familiarity with open-source licensing, export controls including encryption classification, and the EU AI Act.
• Commercial contracting experience and experience supporting international operations and cross-border data flows.
• Practical judgment, a builder mindset, crisp communication, project management experience, and comfort using AI tools in legal practice.
