Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer (Datapath)

Location: Hybrid in Santa Clara, California, USA; minimum 3 days per week in the Santa Clara office.

Base pay: $180,000–$225,000 USD annually; excludes commission, bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define software design specifications and implement reliable, bug-free code using test-driven development.
• Refactor existing code for maintainability and reusability while owning the resolution of complex customer issues.
• Collaborate with security, UI, platform, analytics, and quality assurance engineering teams.
• Partner with Product Management to develop detailed product requirements.
• Lead junior engineers through technical guidance, mentoring, and support with development details.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing large-scale cloud networking and security applications.
• Expertise in software design and programming with C, C++, Go, or Python.
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within the functional domain.
• Deep knowledge of DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS networking protocols and services, ideally including firewall policy enforcement.
• Proven experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking components, including transit gateway, IGW, NATGW, NACL, security groups, GWLB, ILB, and Route53.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP database services, PubSub mechanisms, and SDKs.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI/ML to optimize network datapath efficiency, automate routing performance, or improve intelligent threat-detection features.
• Familiarity or direct experience developing security firewall features.
• Experience building solutions for SaaS platforms and using cloud-native infrastructure services.
