Sr. Staff Software Engineer (AI-Native Cloud FinOps)

Location: Onsite in Santa Clara, California, United States; must be local to the Bay Area.

Salary: $153,700–$248,600 per year, with potential restricted stock units and bonus.

What you will do

• Build autonomous systems with LangChain and ADK to inspect, govern, and optimize high-cost AI/ML workloads.
• Manage GPU cluster provisioning, optimize model batching, and track per-token unit economics across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Develop closed-loop software that converts detected optimization opportunities into executed cloud savings.
• Build Terraform and Pulumi infrastructure-as-code pipelines with real-time cost-compilation checks.
• Train and deploy predictive machine learning models to analyze usage telemetry and detect spending anomalies.
• Build telemetry platforms and internal AI agents that measure unit economics, detect infrastructure waste, and submit pre-validated pull requests.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, SRE, or Cloud FinOps teams, including 2+ years building software tools or AI/ML integrations for cloud resource management.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python, ReAct, and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Practical experience with LLM APIs, vector databases, and agentic frameworks.
• Deep understanding of the architectural and financial cost drivers of AI/ML workloads.
• Hands-on programmatic experience with FinOps APIs across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Mastery of Terraform and Pulumi, plus experience with CI/CD engines.
• Proven experience architecting and maintaining closed-loop automation tools in multi-cloud environments.
• Must be local to the Bay Area for onsite work.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes cost allocation using Kubecost or OpenCost.
• Proficiency with SQL, BigQuery, or Snowflake for processing billing exports.
• Ability to partner with AI/ML Engineers, Product Leaders, and FP&A to align infrastructure strategies with financial goals.
• A software-first, agentic problem-solving mindset focused on self-healing systems.
