Principal Software Engineer (Prisma Access)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. Most teams work from the office full time.

Salary: $200,000–$225,000 per year. The broader posted base salary range is $156,400–$253,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and support highly scalable software features and cloud-native infrastructure for Prisma Access.
• Build distributed backend services, REST APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI.
• Develop targeted AI and ML algorithms for networking, orchestration, and cloud security operations.
• Automate monitoring and data collection, analyze system disruptions, and improve product availability and reliability.
• Guide testing of critical components across multiple platforms, focusing on performance, maintainability, and supportability.
• Collaborate with product management, QA, SRE, customer support, architects, and program managers while providing technical leadership and mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java, with strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and distributed systems.
• Experience building large-scale SaaS solutions with distributed databases, messaging systems, microservices, and cloud provider infrastructure.
• Knowledge of PKI, certificates, security principles, TCP/IP, HTTP, VPCs, load balancers, and cloud firewalls.
• Experience with DevOps, availability and reliability outcomes, test-driven development, and CI/CD methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Fluentd, or graph databases.
