Principal Software Engineer (AI Posture)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; office-based work is expected

Salary: $156,400–$253,000 per year, with potential restricted stock units and bonus.

What you will do

• Develop security posture features for highly scalable cloud applications.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
• Build and operate distributed cloud services using Golang in a GCP environment.
• Implement observability for cloud-native services, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Collaborate with Product Line Management, QA, senior engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide occasional customer-facing production support.

Requirements

• Strong programming and scripting skills in Golang, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes; GCP is preferred, while AWS experience is acceptable.
• Hands-on experience developing and operating cloud-based services.
• Ability to use AI tools and agents across research, design, implementation, and operational support.
• Experience with observability frameworks and operational monitoring for cloud-native services.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of related experience, Master’s degree with at least 8 years, PhD with at least 5 years, or equivalent experience; degrees must be in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Security best practices, risk assessment, and common threat model knowledge.
• Experience with JSON, YAML, or XML configuration schemas.
• Understanding of security policies, access control models, and configuration profiles.
