Unit Manager, General Liability

Location: Hybrid in Hartford, Connecticut, with other listed locations in Albany, New York; West Bridgewater, Massachusetts; and Buffalo, New York. The role is based in the United States.

Salary: $109,300.00–$180,200.00 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, performance-manage, and develop a team of General Liability claim professionals.
• Recruit, onboard, retain, and develop talent while implementing staffing, training, succession, and performance-development strategies.
• Ensure consistent claim service quality through claim handling guidance, new-claim assignment, file reviews, diary follow-ups, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Develop and execute strategic file management plans to improve resolution, customer service, productivity, cost effectiveness, and business results.
• Use data, management information, and technology to identify opportunities, trends, product stress points, and process improvements.
• Build relationships with colleagues, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders; participate in business meetings and agency visits as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of claim work experience in at least one line of business.
• Ability to drive results, lead change, and execute business strategy.
• Ability to attract top talent, maximize individual performance, hold others accountable, align rewards, and create and sustain a dynamic workplace.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree.
• Claim management experience.
• Insurance license or licenses, where required by state or hirify.global requirements; licenses generally must be obtained within three months of starting and maintained through continuing education.
