Principal IC Design Engineer - Analog (Medical Devices)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States of America; onsite at least 4 days per week. Other listed location: Tempe, Arizona, United States of America.

Salary: $140,000–$210,000 per year in U.S. locations excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations. The offered rate may vary by experience, education, certification, market conditions, and location.

What you will do

• Specify, develop, and design analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for next-generation Cardiac Rhythm Management devices.
• Define circuit direction by translating requirements from product, systems, test, research, firmware, and other engineering functions.
• Own designs throughout the development cycle from concept through release and production, including design reviews and cross-functional collaboration.
• Create schematics and verification simulations in Cadence EDA tools, and develop Spectre and ADE testbenches for PVT verification.
• Integrate test strategies, built-in self-test architectures, and mixed-signal/AMS modeling into chip-level verification.
• Direct layout, parasitic extraction, characterization, laboratory testing, production test support, and process improvement using Cadence tools, LabView, Python, and test equipment.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field plus at least 7 years of experience designing analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits; or an advanced degree plus at least 5 years of such experience; or a PhD plus at least 3 years of such experience.
• For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree satisfying 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required for roles below Principal level; U.S. work authorization sponsorship is offered exclusively for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• MS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience with Cadence EDA analog and mixed-signal tools and analog design tools.
• Thorough knowledge of analog and mixed-signal IC design methodologies.
• Experience navigating multi-variable analog design tradeoffs and coaching others.
• Experience with ultra-low-power and subthreshold design methodologies.
• Knowledge of semiconductor materials, devices, and fabrication.
• Experience with high-voltage and switch-mode power electronic devices and applications.
• Expertise with quality and statistical methods.
• Medical device experience.
